Computational and Comparative Genomics

Workshop, 30 May - 10 June 2016 in Kiel

This bioinfomatics block course is organized by Tal Dagan and is based on a master module of the University of Kiel.

The module is aimed at teaching basic methods for the analysis of genomic data. This includes an overview
of the theory and practice of computational methods for the identification and characterization of genetic
elements from DNA sequence data. The course focuses on approaches for extracting the maximum amount
of information from protein and DNA sequence similarity through sequence database searches, statistical
analysis, and multiple sequence alignment.

Please, see also the module manual for details.

The workshop will start everyday at 8:15 with an introduction into the day's topic until 10:00. At 10:15 it will proceed with hands-on exercises in the computer room to end at 16:00. On the last workshop day there will be a summary exercise.

We can offer 5 seats for SPP1819 PhD students and Post docs.

Please, register by sending an email to Darmar Haacks (dhaacks@ifam.uni-kiel.de).
